Today, Huia Whanau started reading the second chapter to Refugee. Chapter 2 is about a 11 year old Cuban girl from Cuba called Isabella. People in Cuba are struggling for food and money. Isabella's friend Iván and his father are building a boat to sail to the United States. Isabella is trying to find the hidden beat in Cuban music.
We then had to do a country study about Cuba. The country study included Cuba's currency, traditional foods, population and where it is located. I like researching information about Cuba and other countries.

Wow Eva, another beautiful poster! What tool are you using to make your posters? They're very creative and colourful. I don't personally know anyone from Cuba, but I love Cuban culture. There are a few films and shows that I watch though, that have Cuban characters, such as One Day At A time, Brooklyn Nine Nine, and MacFarland.
ReplyDeleteI wonder, during your research, did you come across the colourful houses that line the coast in Havana? They are absolutely beautiful. I remember Isabella saying that was her favourite place in Cuba. What do you think of the colourful houses?
